To Wii or Not To Wii?

That is the question.  I have wanted a Wii forever.  Then when the Wii Fit with the Balance Board came out, I wanted one even more.  Yet I've never taken the plunge.  I like games.  I like car games, I love Tetris, I love Bejeweled, I think I would LOVE Dance Dance Revolution.  And I'm intrigued by the fitness games/programs that you can get as well.  I've read about people using the Wii for exercise on other blogs so I need some advice people.  If you have one and love it, please tell me why.  If you have/had one but just don't bother with it, let me know why not.

So I ask you: To Wii or Not To Wii?

  1. I don't have one, but I think they look like fun too. I also think the xbox kinect games look fun - I love that both of them (wii and xbox kinect) get you up and off the couch. One of these years...

  4. I'm like you. I wanna Wii, but haven't bought one yet. I Wii at my Uncle's house and swear I'm gonna buy one. But then I get home.. and talk myself out of it. Funny thing is, I just bought someone else a Wii. How's that for irony?

  5. Have one: love it. We have Wii Fit Plus and Just Dance - Just Dance is AMAZINGLY fun, so it doesn't feel like exercise at all.

There's an article in a magazine I'm reading at home about the benefits of "exergames" - I'll try to remember to bring it to work tomorrow so I can scan it and email it to you. Can you shoot me an email so I have yours? Mine is chibijeebs at gmail dot com.

  6. hi. I´m like you, always wondered about it.. I just took the plunge and purchased it, I found an awesome deal at HSN that comes with the wii fit and balance board. I´ll update you once I get it, but i think the exercise on this will be lots of fun =)

  7. We have one and it's great. Wii Fit Plus is good and allows you to work at different levels. Just Dance is a great aerobic work out that can make you feel a bit uncoordinated at first, but gets better!

They are excellent for winter when it makes it harder to get outside because of poor light or weather.

Also just wanted to say sorry if I was a bit gun-ho last week with offering to join me in egging each other on in Weigh-In Wednesday .... too over the top and desperate to find some motivation. I'm okay now and back to normal! Sorry again!

  8. Okay, so I must say one thing..

    EVERYONE SHOULD WII!! lol

I think they are the best thing, for exercising, ever! Be it that I don't have an XBox or a PS3(yet), I am kinda biased.. but I love it.. The Just Dance games (1 & 2) are awesome cardio and upper arm workouts.. when I don't sweat, my arms still hurt (in a good way) afterwards..

I have two videos posted on my blog of me and my family doing some of the songs.. here's the address for them.. enjoy, and just a fyi.. be prepared to laugh because you can't help but look goofy doing these dances..

Oh, and the Wii Fit I got too.. and I wasn't impressed with the original.. But I got the EA Sports Active game, and it's awesome! Oh, and if you have a good rental place around you, be sure to try out games before you buy (because some of them just SUCK on the Wii).. :)

  9. Michelle:

We bought our WII last year for our daughters for the holidays. I think my husband and I play it more than the girls. My husband like to shoot at things when he is in his "man cave" and I like WII fit, All the Tony Hawk games (I was a big skateboarder as a kid) and we are getting the Dance Revolution this holiday. For me it's not great exercise as it does not get my heart rate up to 140 but it's fun and we have loooooonnnnnggggg winters here in Chicago - so it keeps us and the kids busy.

Hope that helps, but you should also look into the new one, it's by XBOX or Playstation = I can't remember the name, but want to say Kinext???

    Have a great Thanksgiving!!!
