I'm Alive?!

I've been missing in action.  Actually, more like missing in inaction, hehe.  I've been not doing much really.  Started the new job which is going well.  Spending Tuesday evenings with my new niece who is ridiculously cute.  Reading and watching tv.  So here's what I've been up to:

1. The Hunger Games - seriously what is with young adult fiction being so mesmerizing?!  I was never into sci-fi or futuristic books and movies.  Then came Harry Potter.  I came late to the party on Harry Potter.  Book four had just come out when I started the first one.  It was pretty awesome that I didn't have to wait for each book to come out until I got to book 5.  Then Twilight.  Loved the books, hate the movies.  Can't say I hate all the movies, I watched the first one and can't be bothered to watch the rest of them.  Loved all the Harry Potter movies.  Now The Hunger Games, I got through the first two books in about two days while I was off work after surgery.  Then it took me a little bit to read the third book because I was limited to the bus to & from work.  I cannot wait for this movie to come out!!  I so hope that I enjoy it!!

2.  My new best friend.  I always wanted a Keurig but just couldn't justify the cost.  Then I discovered that I had enough air miles to get it.  I promptly ordered it and a week later I had it.  Awesome.  I'm in love with making iced coffee and regular coffee and tea, oh my!!

3.  And my final topic -- weight.  Sigh.  I haven't been counting points.  I'm trying to talk myself into activity.  If you want motivation for activity, go check out Sarah @ Just in case you wanted to Know.  I just found her blog the other day and I started at the beginning and read right to the current.  She kicks ass on working out and tracking.  AND LOSING!  So it works eh?  As I was thinking about working out and maybe walking home from work (just over an hour) instead of taking the bus, I started getting hives.  Yes, hives.  Happens every once in a while.  I was out of Benadryll and headed to the drugstore for some and spotted these.  I'd never seen them before, they are new to Canada and I was put under their spell.  Don't try them, you'll hate them.  Yes, I'm doing you a favor.

A final question for all you active folks -- do you love or hate working out?  If you love it, did you always love it?  Did you learn to love it?  Or do you work out and still hate it as a necessary evil?

  1. You are so sweet - I want to cry! You have made me so, so happy. I started my blog thinking if I could inspire / motivate just one person it would be worth it! I am so happy

I am so glad you liked the HG. Nerd alert, I emailed all my friends Outlook reminders about the movie. I am so, so excited. It looks LEGIT for sure!

What helped me for wanting to work out was finding spin class. I hate to be a cheeseball, but I think it has changed my life. I miss it when I don't do it for a couple days. I think it helps to find something you love and stick to it. I mix it up with treadmill workouts and boot camp, but I always come back to spin.

    1. I totally understand. I'm already trying to nail down a date with two girlfriends that are reading HG right now.

My first spin class was horrific. Actually the class was awesome and the instructor was great but I made the mistake of not telling her I was new and getting some special instruction and I had difficulty walking for a week, NO JOKE!! When I try it again, I"m definitely doing things differently!

  2. Welcome back! I've missed reading your posts Michelle. I love working out. Hated it before but going to the gym has helped me with that. I get to meet people with similar goals of fitness and weight loss. Seriously, working out has become something I look forward to doing everyday. ;-)

  3. Haha! Girl in another universe we are twins!! I got a Keurig for Xmas and love it too. The only thing- the cups are small :-(

I also just bought the Hunger games book set. I'm about to start them. I'm not usually one for those type books either but have heard so much hype I want to give them a go! I hope I like them!

I've had those Reese's. OMG deadly. I can't have control with them! I'm so happy you are back!! I hate excercise. Maybe if I stuck it out long enough I wouldn't. Years ago (when I was smaller) I attended a gym and took classes with my BFF. I loved it and was seeing results. Dang it I wish I knew people in this city!! It's so hard making new friends in a new place when your an adult. I guess it doesn't help any that I work from home either.

I'm going to give the Zumba a go this week. I hurt my foot, so didn't get the chance. I'll let you know what I think for sure :-)

    1. Speaking of the keurig, I ordered the ekobrew cups. They work pretty well actually. I buy an extra bold coffee so that if I select the larger cup size, it's still a good brew and not weak.

I so hope you like the Hunger Games!!!

That's how I feel about exercise. I love the feeling after but hate the during part, haha! I know I've liked it in the past so I'm going to start doing something and hopefully stick with it till it's a habit i enjoy.

  4. YAY! I just enjoy reading your posts and glad when they show up in my reader.
That coffee thingie (haha) looks awesome!!! 
About the working out, I struggled a little at the beginning but I absolutely love it now, I can’t go more than 2 days without wanting to do it. I find I stick with what I enjoy the most, running & swimming. The rest doesn’t some so easy, for example – bootcamp, weight training, and zumba are not my “thing” and I struggle with those, I do them maybe once or twice a week because I know I need to cross train. Maybe you just have to find your thing and it won’t be a drag. There is a bootcamp here at work, the trainer uses a 21 Day program, you have to complete the bootcamp for 21 days straight because that’s how long it takes for it to become a habit. Worth a shot.
oh and I've been wanting to read the hunger games!!

    1. I firmly believe that "thingie" is a technical term. And you don't just work out, you are an ATHLETE. For real. I loved a class at the gym called Barbell Blast and it was weight training but in a group with awesome music and a good instructor, it flew by and before you know it, I've trained my whole body in an hour. Not a bad way to spend a Sat morning.

do it! Read the Hunger Games. Haha - I've probably hyped it up too much but I really liked it.
